Multi-Leg Flights
Flights comprised of multiple legs
As stipulated by the BGH (Federal Court of Justice) in its ruling dated October 14, 2010, passengers booked on a multi-leg flight (e.g. connecting flight and long-haul flight) on the same airline are entitled to compensation in the event of a CANCELLATION OF THE FEEDER FLIGHT, even if the individual legs of the flight do not fall within the scope of the Air Passenger Rights Regulation. If the feeder flight is merely delayed, this legislation does not apply. (However, future jurisdiction may change).
Click here to read the BGH's press release. As the full judgment was only released later, we were not yet able to incorporate the judgment in the compensation calculator. If this applies to you (i.e., your feeder flight was cancelled), please enter each individual leg of your journey separately into the compensation calculator and answer the following question: “This is insufficient to claim compensation. Were you denied boarding against your will?” by clicking “yes”.
Please reply to our delivery confirmation email for the first leg of your flight by specifying that the additional flight (case no. 20******) is the connecting flight to the first case.
Our team is currently working on a more user-friendly entry mask for multi-leg flights. We apologise for the inconvenience caused. Your flightright team.
